Consignment Policy

  • Daytime Consignment: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM.
  • Consignment Dropoff: Wednesdays from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM.
  • Evening Consignment: Accepted by appointment only on the 2nd & 4th Tuesday evenings of each month. To schedule your appointment, please call 973-539-4274 during regular business hours.

Consignors receive 50% of the selling price of each item.  After 3 weeks, the item is reduced to 50% off the original selling price.  The consignor will receive 50% of the reduced sale price.  After 5 weeks, the item is reduced to 75% off, and becomes property of the Shop as a donation to local charities.

There is a limit of 10 clothing articles and 10 household items per week.

Due to space limitations, we reserve the right to refuse any category of merchandise at any time.

Payout checks will be processed October, December, February, April and June. Payments under $25 are only processed in December and June. Checks should be picked up at the shop.


Registration Fee

There is an annual registration of $25.00 payable at the time a consignment account is opened.


What is Acceptable

The Nearly New Shop accepts quality clothing, accessories, and housewares for the entire family.  Clothing must be clean, pressed, in season and in current fashion.  Other items suitable for consignment include jewelry, china, glassware, small appliances in good repair, antiques, toys, linens, and bedspreads.  No stuffed animals without tags, used games, or personal grooming appliances can be accepted.

  • Fall: Transitional type clothing. Light wool blends, cotton sweaters & capris in fall colors, raincoats, light jackets, fleeces. No short sleeves, unless it is a blouse that can be worn under a suit, no shorts. No heavy winter coats or 100% wool sweaters. No XMAS! (Late August - Mid October)
  • Winter: Heavy winter coats, wool sweaters, cords, ski pants, velvets.(Mid October-Feb)
  • Spring: Transitional type clothing. Cotton sweaters & capris in spring colors, light wool suits, linens, raincoats, light jackets. No sleeveless unless it can be worn under a suit, shorts or bathing suits. (Feb-Mar.)
  • Summer: Shorts, bathing suits & sleeveless in addition to the spring line. (March-April)

Please keep in mind that these timeframes are guidelines and the thermometer is a good indicator of what is acceptable.

WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REJECT ANY ITEMS WE FEEL ARE NOT SALEABLE. NO SPOTS, TEARS, OR SOILED ITEMS ACCEPTED.

Pricing

The initial minimum sale price is $8.00 for adult items and $4.00 for houseware items.

All articles shall be priced after they are accepted for consignment by a Pricing Committee.  They shall make every effort to assign a fair selling price.  Original price, manufacturer, and condition of the merchandise determine a fair selling price.  This policy will ensure more consistent Pricing and will be beneficial to the Nearly New Shop and consignor.

The price of all unsold articles is low­ered after 3 weeks. Articles still unsold after 5 weeks become the property of the Shop as a donation.


We reserve the right to donate, without notification, any unsold or unacceptable items to charitable organizations.

The shop is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged articles.
