Current Community Projects

The Done in a Day projects of the Junior League of Morristown, Inc. are a variety of smaller scale projects that have a quick impact into our larger community. Through careful consideration, we select projects that work with numerous agencies that are located in the Morris area.

There are some "tried and true" projects that we repeat, yet we always seek out others that are new to the JLM which help us reach out to communities that we feel will benefit from our involvement. We offer projects that serve all age groups yet continue to fulfill our mission of assisting women and children at risk.

Done in a Day 2009-10 projects:

September 15, 2009, 10:30am–1:30pm: Meet and Greet at Morristown Community Soup Kitchen: Fifteen JLM Volunteers will serve families casseroles they prepared for the Community Soup Kitchen.

October: Morris View Nursing Home Event #1: Volunteers participate in an event involving the Alzheimer Patients at Morris View Nursing Home, which should include providing some entertainment and may include additional training on the disease.

October 3, 2009, 12:30–3:30pm: In honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, JBWS is hosting their annual Day of Unity at the Methodist Church on the Green in Morristown. Current and former JBWS clients/residents come together to hear speakers, discuss their personal stories, remember victims, honor survivors and celebrate the efforts to end violence. It is a time for the women to come together to find strength as they move forward with their lives. To allow the women to fully participate in the Day of Unity, JLM will be providing volunteers to entertain the women's children with activities such as  face painting, stained glass art, sand art and other crafts. It expects about 100 children.

October 4, 2009, 11:30pm–4:30pm: 26th Annual Morristown Memorial Hospital/Goryeb Children’s Hospital Picnic: This picnic is a “reunion” of all the NICU babies and their families. JLM Volunteers will do sand art with the children who attend.
