History of Lunch with the Authors Fundraiser

What started as Breakfast with the Authors, a mini-fundraiser organized by The Junior League of Morristown Sustainers Committee in 1998, is now a major fundraiser and highly anticipated social event attended each Spring by over 250 attendees. Eventually evolving into Lunch with the Authors in 2001, it’s now the JLM’s largest fundraiser and the longest running event of its kind in New Jersey.

Over the years, Lunch with the Authors has not only been a literary celebration featuring some of the most prominent and popular authors of our time, but has helped to support the mission of The Junior League of Morristown and the impact that it makes in the community through its program and partner agencies. To date it has raised over $270,000 for the Volunteer Scholarship Program, as well as funding hands-on community projects that help improve the lives of women and children at risk in the Morris County area.

  • Impacting the lives of women and children in the greater Morris area
JLM conducts hands-on projects with over 20 community partners like the Interfaith Food Pantry, Daytop Village of NJ, Cornerstone Family Programs, Homeless Solutions, Dress for Success, Jersey Battered Women’s Services, and more.
  • Propelling the next generation of community leaders
Now in its 30th year, the JLM Voluntarism Scholarship program awards scholarships each year to select high school seniors who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to voluntarism in the community.
  • Because when you educate a woman, you educate a community.
JLM’s Women Moving Forward Scholarship offers women 40 and over the financial support to pursue a college degree and further her education and the future of her family.
